Feel the fleece!

At my son’s school we had a field trip to the local farm for a behind the scenes look at animals and what they produce. It was a perfect field trip for a knitter who loves animal fibres! We saw the goats who were about to pop with their babies. My favourite of course were the sheep and seeing the process in making yarn from the fleece, then carding to make the fleece smoother and then the spinning into yarn. We all had a fantastic time with all the animals and even saw Luna the cow getting milked with her little machine pump – took me back to the days when I had my babies & had to pump milk for my little one who was born six weeks early!
