The inspiration behind this dress was the new Star Wars film. I was checking out Reys costume and the stitch detailing on one of her outfits with the high collar! Now I am thinking of adding the collar back to this dress. For this dress, I added a quilted stitch detail to the sleeves of this dress. The fabric on the skirt is very 1980s and reminded me of Star Wars I think as it has brown and black in the pattern. In the end I wore it to teach Arts Focus last Thursday and as it was a minimum day and we scored free tennis racquets from a friend – we went down to the tennis court, and talk it up like yeah! Oops sorry, that is a Lorde song in my head… My kids and I rode our bikes down to the courts and played tennis for an hour or so – what a great workout chasing the ball! So it turns out those pockets on the skirt are the perfect size to hold a tennis ball – I just have to remember that next time I play tennis I wear sneakers, not boots!!
